The 82nd anniversary of the deaths of 4 priests, 34 Benedictine nuns of the Blessed Sacrament, 2 religious sisters, 12 orphans, and approximately 1,000 residents of Warsaw — all who perished under the rubble of St. Casimir’s Church — is approaching. On Sunday, August 30, a Holy Mass was celebrated for those who perished in the Warsaw Uprising and for the elevation to the altars of Sister Maria Tomea and her companions – the Benedictine Nuns of the Blessed Sacrament, who suffered martyrdom during the Warsaw Uprising, having previously voluntarily offered their lives to God for the city, homeland, and the world – was concelebrated by our chaplain, Fr. Andrzej Tulej, Ph.D., and Fr. Robert Ogrodnik, Ph.D., who delivered the homily.
Representatives of the Riflemen’s Brotherhood and the Order of the Knights of John Paul II graced the anniversary celebrations with their presence.
The ceremony concluded with a communal prayer in the church crypt and a meeting in the room behind the sacristy.
