Sister Maria Anselma of the Immaculate Conception – Maria Matuszczak
Date and place of birth: June 8, 1909 Krępa (now a district of Ostrów Wlkp.)
Date of entry: June 28, 1935
Date of vestition: January 1936
Date of profession: January 25, 1937 (temporary), April 20, 1940 (perpetual)

  • St. Stanislaus the Bishop parish in Ostrów Wlkp.
  • matriculated in May 1930 at the State Women’s Gymnasium in Ostrów Wlkp.
  • was friends during her studies with Janina Szymkowiak, later Blessed Sister Sancja
  • graduated in Polish philology with a degree in philosophy from the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Poznan
  • is currently the patroness of the Salesian Sisters’ Public Elementary School in Ostrów Wielkopolski, and the school building has a commemorative plaque dedicated to her
  • She sacrificed herself for her native brother Fr. Stanislaw Matuszczak
